Copenhagen

Superkilen, Nørrebro

Felt like a kid all over again yesterday when we visited Superkilen, in Nørrebro, which is in fact next doors to me! I think this is why Denmark’s architecture, or in fact Scandinavia’s architecture is one of the best in the world. The park was created to celebrate diversity, as seen in Nørrebro, one of Copenhagen’s most diverse neighbourhoods and we spotted statues from all over the world. For example, we spotted a thai boxing ring, a bull from Spain,an elephant slide from the Phillipines.

I think Superkilen is one of the more off-the-beaten tracks in Copenhagen, where the normal tourist wouldn’t visit. But I had a lot of fun sliding down the slides (even though I’m pretty sure I stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the kids, but who cares, whatever), sitting on the swings, and climbing through obstacle courses. I haven’t had that much physical activity since I arrived here! Which may explain my aching body today.

The park spans across three areas – The red square, The green park and the black market, make sure you visit all of them as each has their own attractions!

So glad I managed to finally visit this place, and i’m sure i’ll be making a return trip to Nørrebro to visit the Assistens Cemetery, where Hans Christian Anderson was buried and Jægersborggade which is a street filled with little shops and cafes!
