Not wanting to waste any of the precious remaining time I had left in Copenhagen, I ventured forth to Vestamager today, which was a relatively long train ride. I wanted to check out the award-winning architecture, which is centred around Ørestad. I thought I could check out 8tallet, VM Mountain as well as VM Houses, but I got carried away in 8tallet!
8Tallet was the winner of the housing category at the World Architecture Festival in 2011 and is designed in the shape of an 8. The architecture is really modern and interesting to look at!
Can you imagine living here? I think it’ll be totally cool! Apart from the fact that it’s kinda far and isolated from the city centre… But you also get the benefit of being right next to nature. Nature’s literally at your doorstep.
There was this huge-ass looking swamp/nature reserve so I decided to go check it out. At the corner of my eye, I spotted some grazing sheep so I decided to go closer to take some photos.
Can you believe that this is in Copenhagen?! Yea, me neither. Surprisingly, the sheep aren’t scared of humans either. When I went closer to take photos, the sheep actually came so close to me that I could feel it’s breath. To be honest, I was kind of scared and was all prepared to start running for my life if it pounced onto me haha.
Then, I spotted horses! Though it was super far away, I couldn’t resist checking them out.
I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Horses in Copenhagen! And here I went all the way to Iceland to admire some horses. Then I went to the opposite direction to take pictures of deers.
I love this kind of serendipity. I set out to admire Copenhagen’s modern architecture, and then I come across all of this wilderness. I loved the spontaneity of chasing after sheep and running after deers.
While trying to get to the deers, there was this pretty large swamp that I had to jump across. So I braced myself and jumped across it, but just as I landed on the other side, I fell and my jeans, gloves, jacket and shoes were all covered in mud. Not a very pretty sight, but I guess you could say it was all part of the adventure. My shoes are a gone case though, they were like entirely submerged in mud. Another excuse for me to go shoe shopping in Poland 😉
At first I was like aw shucks, there’s a huge fence over the deers. But the deers suddenly started running and jumped over the fence!! I was like wtf! And then I immediately started running after them to get pictures haha.
And because I was in a hurry to meet some friends for dinner and was too lazy to continue trudging in the mud, I climbed over the gate. Pretty exciting day I would say! 🙂
I had the “best kebab” in Copenhagen for dinner at Kosk Kebab, in Nørrebro. I would say it was pretty good, and cheap too! I would return to try the wrap though, I was so hungry I didn’t really have time to think through what to buy.
Can’t wait to explore the other parts of Copenhagen! I already made a mental note to come back to Vestamager in the summer because there’s a Nature Centre right next to the metro station, and I think it’ll be perfect to cycle or run there.
